Sea Cadet Uniform Information

New Cadets should review the uniform ordering information for training under New Sea Cadet Uniform near the end of this page.

If you go to the SUNY Maritime Ship store, ask for Gerry, Ginnie or Vinnie and tell them Instructor April Maron told you to go there!



SECTION 4: CADET INSIGNIA - MALE AND FEMALE

4401 - NSCC/NLCC Shoulder Flash

    4401.1 NSCC

       1. Flash - Pair. The NSCC cadet shoulder flash consists of an embroidered yellow border, with yellow lettering and eagle, on a blue field for both blue and white uniforms. They can also be worn on the Utility and Coverall uniforms. For the camouflage utility uniform, the embroidered cadet black on olive drab shoulder flash will be worn. There is only one size for both males and females.

       2. Position. Will be worn on the outer face of each sleeve of all uniforms, jumpers, blouses, shirts, coats and all other outer garments except raincoats, and it can also be worn on the front of the blue working cap. The flash will be centered on the front immediately above the bill, with the eagle pointing toward the right shoulder. The flash will be centered on the outer face of each sleeve with, the top edge of the flash 1-inch below the shoulder seam, with the eagles facing forward. (Figure 11, Appendix 1, Page 1-11)

New Sea Cadet Uniform ordering information;

Items needed for boot camp as well as our meetings:

1.Utility trousers (navy blue) (3 sets required for boot camp)

2.Utility shirt- long or short sleeve blue chambray (3 sets required for boot camp)

3.Black socks

4.Black web belt

5.Silver Buckle; *note that women’s pants have smaller belt loops and require a womens belt and smaller buckle.

6..Black steel toe boots or shoes

7.Dixie cup or USNSCC ball cap which can be ordered from the USNSCC ship store

8.Black utility jacket ( mandatory for boot camp & nice to have to wear during winter to attend meetings).

·      You must order a usnscc name tag for your dress uniform, so when you place the order for name tapes, you may want to order a name tag at the same time to save future shipping costs.

·      If you will attend boot camp you will need 3 utility uniforms.

This consists of a chambray shirt and navy twill pants.

You will need branch tape for the shirts as well as name tape for both your shirts as well as your pants

Utility uniform can be ordered from Seagoing  or lighthouse uniform. Seagoing uniform will sell you seconds if you are nice to them on the phone and explain why you need the uniform. I got the uniform for a very good price last year by speaking to Max @1 800 445 0044.

·      USNSCC patches must be sewn on the sleeves 1 inch below shoulder seam centered. See uniform regulations (http://resources.seacadets.org/uniform_manual.html) or refer to my document on guidelines for appropriate wearing of uniform and other regulations.

IF you are under 13 and are registered as a Navy League cadet, and need a uniform, follow instructions above, however, you must order NLCC branch tape instead of the NSCC tape:

·      If you purchase a utility jacket, you should also order a black name tape & black branch tape to sew on that as well. The jacket can be purchased from NAVEX and possibly the ship store at either Kingspoint or Maritime.

·      You can also order pt gear from the USNSCC ship store. White socks are worn with PT Gear.
